Superior accommodation facilities receive high accolades
The Top Travel Awards was held in South Africa for the first time this year to celebrate and honour superior accommodation facilities. This event was established to recognise and award hospitality excellence while helping guests choose award-winning, professionally rated accommodation facilities with confidence.
We are proud to be partnering with numerous brands to make this event a success.
Accommodation providers can utilise award artwork to promote their facilities, in print and electronic media. Many consumers are brand loyal but will pick another facility if it is given a higher rating, and an independent award is still one of the best ways to assure that a facility will be noticed, and make it stand out among competitors.
Some highlights
The first year drew entries from across the South African Accommodation spectrum. In total there were close to 100 entries and nominations, with only a small percentage making it through as nominees. In 2022, entries will be open to the whole of Africa.

The process behind the awards
Nomination of establishments
Establishments either nominate themselves or can be nominated by somebody else who knows them well. Being nominated is free, and once a nomination is entered, establishments are vetted to make sure they are up to the high standards of the Top Travel Awards.
Once a nomination has been accepted, successful candidates are invited to participate and pay a participation fee. Just being a nominee is already an achievement, and nominees can flaunt their status using a digital media kit containing artwork.
Kilima Private Game Reserve and Spa - Gold Award
Reviews submitted through the website
Nominees are encouraged to ask guests to review them online using various criteria. These reviews are submitted via the website and provide an independent third party’s opinion.
Walkthroughs
Walkthroughs are conducted by inspectors on selected properties to receive an independent evaluation.
Results announced
Successful establishments bask in the light of their achievement using artwork from a media kit they receive at no extra cost
